Italian side, Lazio have appointed a new coach to replace Stefano Pioli. Pioli is being replaced by Simone Inzaghi following a derby loss to Roma. The loss was colossal for Lazio, losing by four goals to one. The replacement was announced on Sunday, after the loss to their city rival. The team is now in eight position and may not make Europe next season.
Stefano Pioli helped Lazio to a third place finish in the last campaign but lost a chance to engage in the UEFA champions league due to a loss to Bayern Leverkusen in the playoffs.
The new coach, Inzaghi, is coming to the seria A for the first time even though he had been with the club’s youth squad. The trend just continues as Lazio is the eighth in the league to change a coach this same season.
The 39-year-old Simone Inzaghi, who is a former Lazio player, is the younger brother of legendary striker, Filippo Inzaghi. Filippo Inzaghi played for juventus and AC Milan. He even coached AC Milan last season. Filippo Inzaghi had taken over the reins from Clarence Seedorf. Since he couldn’t turn around the woes of the once revered club, he was also fired and replaced with Sinisa Mihajlovic. The current coach has also come under fire for poor performance this season and may be replaced during the summer. Continue reading LAZIO APPOINT NEW COACH
Lazio’s Felipe Anderson is attracting the interest of top European clubs but the Italian club is attempting to keep hold of the 22 year old midfielder for as long as possible. Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain are the latest clubs that have shown interest in securing the services of the Brazilian player but it’s unlikely that Anderson will be leaving Lazio unless a very tempting offer is launched.
Igli Tare is the technical area coordinator of Lazio and he revealed that Manchester United made an offer in the region of €50 million as the Premier League club attempted to sign the Brazilian midfielder but Lazio rejected this offer as the offer wasn’t good enough.
“We turned down a €50m offer from Manchester United on Aug. 27 and nothing has changed since then, because if he finds consistency, then he’s worth much more. We also resisted bigger offers than that, but we have targets to achieve.” Lazio’s technical coordinator, Igli Tare said.
The Italian club is indeed willing to offload Felipe Anderson as well as a few other players who have attracted the interest of other European clubs but only if the price is right. Igli Tare revealed that the board of directors of the club and the rest of the head chiefs of the club will meet up and evaluate every offer that has been made and will be made throughout the winter transfer window before reaching a decision.
