LAZIO EYEING GUNNERS DEFENDER
Lazio have reportedly been linked with a move for Arsenal defender Shkrodan Mustafi has a major clearout continues at the club. Mustafi could be the next player to leave the Gunners with Lazio said to be keen to sign him. German World Cup winner Mustafi has less than six months left on his existing deal with the North London outfit and he’s not expected to sign a new deal though some reports had claimed that the player turned down the offer of a new contract from the club.
The interest of Lazio in ShkrodanMustafi was confirmed by Italian media platform Citta Celeste which reported that Lazio sporting director Igli Tare has reached out to Arsenal over the potential signing of the Gunners centre back and that the club has been scouting him for a long time.
Shkrodan Mustafi has less than six months on his Arsenal contract at the moment and this means that he’s free to speak with clubs outside England on a potential free transfer this summer. Mustafi has been attracting clubs to his signature but nothing concrete has come out of the interests from these clubs. Apart from Lazio, Spanish giants Barcelona are another European team keen on signing the ex-Valencia man as they try to beef up their defence for the remainder of this campaign.
If things go according to plan, ShkrodanMustafi could follow the likes of William Saliba, SeadKolasinac, Mesut Ozil and SokratisPapasthathopoulos out of Arsenal. Gunners boss Mikel Arteta said that the target for the club was to clear out some players before adding that this would enable the club to open spaces up for the addition of new players. ShkrodanMustafi has no future at Arsenal at the moment having featured sparingly this season. He’s yet to make an appearance in the Premier League to further highlight the notion that his time is nearing the end at Arsenal.
