Italian side, Lazio have appointed a new coach to replace Stefano Pioli. Pioli is being replaced by Simone Inzaghi following a derby loss to Roma. The loss was colossal for Lazio, losing by four goals to one. The replacement was announced on Sunday, after the loss to their city rival. The team is now in eight position and may not make Europe next season.

Stefano Pioli helped Lazio to a third place finish in the last campaign but lost a chance to engage in the UEFA champions league due to a loss to Bayern Leverkusen in the playoffs.

The new coach, Inzaghi, is coming to the seria A for the first time even though he had been with the club’s youth squad. The trend just continues as Lazio is the eighth in the league to change a coach this same season.

The 39-year-old Simone Inzaghi, who is a former Lazio player, is the younger brother of legendary striker, Filippo Inzaghi. Filippo Inzaghi played for juventus and AC Milan. He even coached AC Milan last season. Filippo Inzaghi had taken over the reins from Clarence Seedorf. Since he couldn’t turn around the woes of the once revered club, he was also fired and replaced with Sinisa Mihajlovic. The current coach has also come under fire for poor performance this season and may be replaced during the summer.

Stefano Pioli, the 50-year-old Italian, was appointed to take over at the club after holding similar positions at Bologna, Parma, Palermo and other Italian clubs. After setting up Lazio for Europe, the team lost to B. Leverkusen during the playoffs of the Champions League. They were also knocked out by Sparta Prague in the Europa League. This compounded the woes for Lazio. The team has won just five of the last 22 games in the serie A.
