JUVE CHASE VILLA
Juventus chief Giuseppe Marotta has said that the club are not looking to bring in a striker like the Barcelona forward David Villa because he does not fit into the style of the club. The 30-year-old Barcelona forward recently returned to action after eight months out with the tibia fracture. He has been linked with a move away from the club due to the presence of many players similar to him. Juventus have been reported as one of the possible destinations for the former Valencia striker. However, the chief of the Italian club, Giuseppe Marotta today confirmed that David Villa is not one of the players on the transfer targets for the club.
This is because David Villa is not the kind of striker that they are looking to sign at the moment. Giuseppe Marotta has said that Juventus are only interested in bringing a target man, who can hold the ball up. They were linked with the former Chelsea striker Didier Drogba, but were unable to secure him. The 57-year-old has said that players like Edin Dzeko, Fernando Llorente, and Cavani are the players they are looking to sign before the end of the transfer window.
“I can rule out any interest or negotiations for David Villa. He is a great player, but not the type we are looking for. We want a striker in the style of Edinson Cavani or Llorente, who are our primary targets along with Edin Dzeko,” said Giuseppe Marotta in a recent interview. Juventus are the overwhelming favourites to lift the league title this season. This is due to the problems faced by the competitors like AC Milan, who have lost a number of key players over the summer. Juventus, meanwhile, have strengthened in a number of different positions and will be formidable.
