Lazio managed to open the 2016-17 season in the best possible way after getting a victory against Atalanta.

There was a lot of pressure on the team to start the season well after having just experienced one of the poor campaigns in recent memory. Just when it seemed that the team was on the verge of regularly qualifying for the Champions League, they slipped back into the lower levels of the Italian Serie A table. Hopes of reviving the team has been placed upon Inzaghi and the manager did not disappoint after grabbing this rollercoaster victory.

A 4-3 win on opening day does not give out a lot of positive vibes about the defence, but it was important three points for the team to begin with. It also gives them a lot of confidence going into the next game against champions Juventus. Inzaghi would have preferred to wait for a game against the champions, but this would be a great time to play against Massimiliano Allegri’s team since they are just recovering from the loss of midfielder Paul Pogba to Manchester United. Inzaghi claimed that his team was made to suffer in the win against Atalanta since the opposition were extremely good as well. Immobile was the start of the show with a first-half brace.

“We were good, we had a great first half and the first fifteen minutes of the second. Then we got two goals and here in Bergamo, you suffer, but we did well. We found it difficult and could have conceded more, however, we went out and got the win in Bergamo. In regards to the market? We are waiting for Candreva’s replacement. With regards to Keita, he’s already said too much. Now let’s enjoy this victory, we’ll try to work on some of the mistakes committed,” said the manager.
